Feds Intend To Circumvent Predatory Lending Law. States React

California slams proposal that is new predatory lenders to create very very own rates of interest, ignore state legislation. 18 states join the fight

SACRAMENTO – A new federal proposition would exempt payday along with other high-cost loan providers from state usury guidelines, permitting them to ignore state limitations and set unique extortionate interest levels. California is leading the battle against that brand new proposition.

Attorney General Xavier Becerra was accompanied with a bipartisan coalition of 19 attorneys general who will be opposing any office regarding the Comptroller associated with the Currency’s (OCC) brand new proposition.
